Malawi:

The OCHA-administered Central Emergency Response Fund has approved an $8 million Rapid Response Grant to immediately implement life-saving activities in Malawi, where 1.5 million of the most vulnerable food insecure Malawians are in need of immediate assistance. The CERF projects address the most critical and immediate funding gaps as outlined in the 2013/2014 Food Insecurity Response Plan for Malawi, which currently describes $71 million of intervention. (The number of food insecure Malawians is likely to rise to 1.9 million in the coming months which could increase the intervention required to $111 million). OCHA requests donors to support this plan.
